I’m facing some persistent issues with my 2017 BMW F30 LCI that’s equipped with the EntryNav2 head unit. I’m hoping someone here can shed some light or offer a solution.
The Issues:

Device Deletion Issue:
  • When I delete a paired device (e.g., a phone), it appears to delete successfully.
  • However, after restarting the car, the device reappears in the list as if it was never removed.

Audio Settings Reset:
  • My audio settings (e.g., bass and treble levels) keep resetting to default after I turn off the car.
  • This means I have to adjust them every time I start the vehicle, which is quite frustrating.

What I’ve Tried So Far:
  • Disconnected the negative terminal of the battery for 30 minutes to perform a hard reset.
  • Flashed the head unit to the latest I-Step using E-Sys.

Unfortunately, neither of these actions has resolved the issues. Could this be a hardware issue, or is it possibly related to the system's memory or software?

Has anyone else encountered these problems and managed to fix them? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
Is this unit originally from the car or replacement?
When the problem started?

I havent seen such problem in the car, if thats a bench setup - then would be probably issue with not going in the sleep correctly.
What about errors/diagnostics?
Maybe someone else have more ideas.

No errors are showing . I have tried to reset the control unit but it still persists.

I have replaced the headunit and the exact same issue still occurs.

I’ve seen something similar before, new device connected, CarPlay etc disappear after HU is rebooted. As admin said most likely that’s due to incorrect sleep cycle . By design it should be executed by car’s electrics in this order > car cuts off CAN bus to the HU and then power.

Thanks for the insight! I'm a bit of a beginner with this kind of troubleshooting, but I’d really like to learn. Is there a straightforward way I can check if the sleep cycle is functioning correctly? For example, how could I confirm if the CAN bus is being cut off before power to the HU? Are there any tools or methods you'd recommend?

I've managed to find the issue, pin 15 is bent in my quadlock which is supplies 12v power. Does anyone know how I can take these pins out so I can put them in a new quadlock. It seems to bent and the plastic is damaged on that particular slot.

Well if there is an issue with power supply pin in the quadlock, then i would also think that there would be some other issues when headunit restarts or not starting at all.
That would be weird if there is no issues when current demand is high - when working.

Yeah I would have thought too. I've attached a picture of the quadlock, I'm not sure if you can see it properly but if you look closely the pin looks a bit bent when comparing it with other pin slots.

Hard to judge by picture. But I still think that there would be more issues if the pin have bad contact.
I would also check just to be sure battery charge info under power management in ista, didn't have flat battery not long ago?
It might cut off power if battery charge is not enough to save power for car start. Might not be the case so don't mark my words here just guessing without seeing.

I did replace battery just because it was 7 years old but still the same issue.

Replacement was registered?

Judging by the picture of the radio connector, moisture got in there. It can be seen that the contacts have green traces of oxidation. Is this really true?

I can't really see the green in the picture. Is there any particular pin ? I'll clean it out with contact cleaner just to make sure. Also if you look at pin 15 can you see the pin pushed to the left?

17, 34, 35, 36, 42 and 43.
I can see there are still wires in the non-natural colors of the BMW. Is this a retrofit? Have you tried connecting without it?
